Omg, It’s *Officially* Official — Ted Lasso Season 4 With Jason Sudeikis Has Been Confirmed
Focus will shift at AFC Richmond to the formation of its women’s team.

"He's here; he's there; he's every-f*cking-where" — He's... Ted Lasso. But, so far, he's not on AppleTV+ with more quirky, motivational goodness in Ted Lasso Season 4. The sports show that normalized depression and anxiety, specifically among men, has a giant fanbase. So, pretty much since the announcement of Ted Lasso's third season, fans have been inquiring about a fourth. And now, Apple has confirmed it’s finally happening for real.
A second (or 10th) look at Season 3 should give Ted Lasso fans everything they need to know about the fate of the beloved teammates and staff from AFC Richmond. That said, the finale still left some wiggle room for continuing the Ted Lasso story — and now we have a better idea of what the continuing story might look like.
A tweet written in February 2025 by Sigmund Judge, host of Apple TV podcast Magic Rays of Light, read: “London filming for #TedLasso S4 is now set to begin in May/June with focus shifting at AFC Richmond to the formation of its women’s team.”
In a reply tweet, he suggested that Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. have been moving ahead with this project for a while under the radar: “Pre-production is in full swing,” he wrote. “The original agreement was a three-season order, which I believe has been repeated. I’d think it’s safe to assume that the writing rooms have been secretly busy for some time.”
There’s a lot to unpack there! It suggests that we’ll get Season 4 sooner than anyone thought, and that three more seasons total might be coming our way, for six total. That’s enough to fill any Ted Lasso fan with hope, although never forget: "It's the hope that kills you."
Fortunately, in March, Apple TV cemented that hope by officially confirming a forthcoming Season 4 with a simple image shared to Instagram:
Who’s in the Season 4 cast?
As of right now, the only formally confirmed cast member is Jason Sudeikis, who plays everyone’s favorite mustachioed hero Ted Lasso. “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’ in Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be,” Sudeikis said in a statement.
Here’s what we do know about potential other cast members. On Aug. 24, Dateline reported that the studio has picked up the options on three original cast members with the UK acting union Equity: Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins). Next up, Warner Bros. is expected to reach out to stars with SAG-AFTRA contracts, including Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).
What's the hold-up with Ted Lasso Season 4?
It's hard to pinpoint the exact reason for Ted Lasso's ending. The show was filmed in England, pulling some of its cast (including lead Jason Sudeikis) from their homes in other parts of the world. There's also something to be said for telling a story and then letting it end naturally instead of waiting until it "jumps the shark."
Considering the Ted Lasso cast is quite large, coordinating commitments (not to mention salaries and raises) from everyone was undoubtedly a sizable task. But everyone involved with the show seems equally in love with and proud of it — especially star Sudeikis, who would reportedly happily return for more time with the Greyhounds.
"I've, you know, heard through sources that Jason Sudeikis desperately misses that character," shared The Hollywood Reporter's West Coast editor Lesley Goldberg. "So, who knows if they're going to find a way to bring him back with another, a fourth season of Ted Lasso, or if they're going to do another spin-off."
What would a Lady Greyhound season look like?
If Judge is right and we are looking at a new season that centers female athletes, so much cool stuff could happen. Spoilers incoming!
In earlier seasons, we briefly saw Keeley (Juno Temple) and Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) discuss a women's team at AFC Richmond. If they spun things in that direction, you could continue to see Keeley and Rebecca with occasional cameos from those on the men's team. Rebecca could lure Ted Lasso back across the pond to teach the girls. She could offer a job to Ted's ex-wife, as the finale hinted that they might have worked it out, and ensuring she had a job, too, would keep Ted's family together, albeit living elsewhere.
But this is all just speculation at the present.
When will the show return?
The answer to that question remains unclear — even with the latest update. Even if the entire cast signed papers and walked onto set right now, you'd have a six-month wait at best. But if Judge’s info is right, and filming began in May or June, we could have new episodes by the end of the year!
So, whatever happens next is anyone's guess... but I'll continue to hold onto hope, even if it kills me.
