Billy Porter Is Glowing From Head To Toe On The Oscars Red Carpet
Billy Porter channeled Kensington Palace on the Oscars red carpet
What did Hollywood ever do before Billy Porter? The Pose star brings a level of confidence, glamour, and sartorial drama to red carpets that is unmatched. Tasked with interviewing duties for the official ABC red carpet pre-show, Porter interviewed the stars with ease, but more importantly — he looked amazing in head-to-toe gold.
Porter waltzed onto the red carpet in a gold feathery bodice, flowing printed skirt, custom Jimmy Choo gold platforms and wait for it, a tiny gold clutch.
Though he could pass for the iconic Oscar’s statue, Porter took inspiration from the royal family when he put together this look.
Porter tweeted that “the Oscars are a royal event, so naturally, we took inspiration from Kensington Palace,” and his designer Giles Deacon told The New York Times that Porter’s billowing skirt is actually inspired by designs inside the Cupola Room at Kensington Palace.
Porter oozed glamour and fashun, but behind the scenes, he was all of us, huddled under a blanket in rainy Los Angeles.
“It’s raining in LA and it’s cold Betches!!!” Porter joked on Twitter when his blanket photos started to trend.
Naturally, the internet was all over Porter’s fashion choices.
But did we expect anything less? Porter turns heads wherever he goes, be it Sesame Street, The Grammy Awards, or the Oscars. For the Grammys, Porter wore a sparkly blue jumpsuit with a mechanical hat “curtain” that opened and closed and when he stopped by Sesame Street, he served up black tie femme elegance.
Everything is better with Billy Porter. What an inspiration.
