You Can Crochet Your Very Own Baby Yoda
Baby Yoda looks even more adorable in crochet form
If you were one of the millions who signed up for Disney Plus the day it was available, you’ve likely seen The Mandalorian (or earmarked it to watch later). The show takes place in the Star Wars universe between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and gives us time with the character otherwise known as Baby Yoda. If you simply can’t get enough of Yoda in baby form, one Etsy shop will show you how to make one of your very own.
Baby Yoda – or “The Child,” as Disney calls it – is actually 50 years old, but don’t let that stop you from “oohing” and “aahing” every time he appears on-screen. He is adorable, and I want to squeeze his tiny green face off (don’t worry; that’s a compliment). In fact, everyone wants to get their hands on one and rather than waiting until spring when the first Disney Baby Yoda plush toy will be available at Walmart, why not make one for yourself?
Etsy shop owner PhilaeArtes is selling a crochet pattern so that you can make your very own Baby Yoda and carry him around in your pocket where ever you go. According to the page, to make this pattern – amigurumi, which is the Japanese tradition of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures – you need to know three things: how to make a magic circle, also known as magic ring, how to make a single crochet stitch (to increase and decrease), and how to change to a different yarn color. Perhaps hiring someone to make one is an option for those of us who have no idea what this means?
The best part? The kit sells for just $5, so even if you aren’t an expert, you can give it a try for less than a cup of Starbucks. All those who have reviewed the product give it five stars, with one writing, “The pattern is really easy to follow (even for a total beginner) and the result is incredibly adorable!”
There is hope.
The Mandalorian premiered on Nov. 12 and follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter beyond the reaches of the New Republic. In its short life, the show has already gained a cult-like following and one big reason for that is, in my opinion, is Baby Yoda.
If that’s not adorable enough, you can also make an even smaller version in keychain form, which would make the most adorable stocking stuffer for everyone in your family.
This would also be adorable as a Christmas tree ornament. In fact, I would like to decorate my entire tree in tiny Yodas and nothing else. Now, off to learn what this crochet business is all about.
