Trump’s on Twitter praising one of his followers for making fun of Greta Thunberg

The 73-year-old schoolyard bully that is actually somehow the president of the United States continues his crusade against an innocent Swedish teenager who is doing her best to save the planet. That’s right — Donald Trump is once again mocking climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter, as the leader of the free world is wont to do.

After her incredible speech at the UN Climate Action Summit, the extremely thin-skinned commander-in-chief sarcastically mocked Thunberg by sharing a tweet quoting the passionate teen’s words, words that were anything but hopeful and happy. “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!” he quipped.

I guess one time sarcastically sneering at an innocent child wasn’t enough for him, so he got his tiny Twitter fingers going again early this morning, retweeting one of his followers who was criticizing Thunberg. The woman wrote, “What an actress! ‘I should be in school.’ She’s getting the best education socialism can steal. I won’t be held hostage by someone who just got a learner’s permit. Sorry kiddo! Tell Al to try again.” Trump retweeted it with accolades for his fellow gross adult bully who enjoys making fun of teens on the autism spectrum. “Keep up the great work Kellie!” he wrote.

During her UN speech, Thunberg all but begged world leaders to take climate change seriously. “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here,” she began before quickly turning emotional. “I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words and yet, I am one of the lucky ones. People are suffering.”

Anyone with half a brain can see that this teen is not only intelligent and well-researched, she’s terrified. She’s literally afraid for the future because of what climate change is doing to our planet, and as adults, even those who don’t believe her words (which, why?) should respect her passion, knowledge, and tender age. To mock an actual child, PUBLICLY, with his gigantic social media platform is breathtakingly disgusting. But then again, we’ve come to expect this behavior from Trump and his followers.

Let’s just take a moment to point out that even though Trump’s using his huge Twitter following to lob sarcastic insults at a teenager, he’s certainly not the only adult making Thunberg the butt of cruel jokes and sneering comments. Something about this child seriously triggers people who prefer to stuff their fingers in their ears and pretend the planet’s not on fire.

Imagine being elected president of the United States and still having an ego fragile enough that a brilliant teen receiving much-deserved accolades for her important work drives you to make fun of her multiple times on the world stage. We know Thunberg will rise above this (as she always does) and continue doing great work while Trump is, hopefully soon, relegated to the dustbin of history.
