This dad is having a blast imitating his daughter’s selfies

When we were growing up, most of us probably thought our parents couldn’t possibly be more embarrassing. Well, it’s 2016 and social media means moms and dads have a multitude of ways to humiliate their children. That’s exactly what’s going on with one dad and his teen daughter. And it’s freaking hilarious.

Chris “Burr” Martin, 47, has a 19-year-old daughter named Cassie, who like most teens in these modern times, posts lots of selfies. Some of the most recent photos have been a tad on the sexy side, and instead of asking that she take them down, he got a little more creative. Martin mimicked some of the photos himself and put his version side-by-side with his daughter’s. The photos spread through Twitter and Instagram and now, Martin is calling himself “Selfie Dad.”

He tells UsWeekly of his little joke that turned into something more. “It’s been pretty funny. A few have called me a jerk, but I don’t think they get it. We’ve kind of always made fun of each other in our family.”

The ones calling him a jerk obviously haven’t seen these gems. Because they’re total works of art.

Daughter Cassie tweeted, “MY FATHER HARASSES ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA” with the above photo of Martin imitating her Snapchat-filtered photo, complete with a real flower crown on his head. If anyone thought her all-caps tweet meant she doesn’t have a sense of humor about her dad using her selfies to get laughs, allow her to clear that up. “My dad is a huge comedian in the family so when he did the pictures it was a huge laugh. The funniest reaction I get is from people my age hoping their parents don’t know how to work the internet so they can’t jump [on] the trend my dad has started.”

Of that flower crown selfie, which has more than 3,000 retweets, Martin explains that it wasn’t all fun and games. “While trying to do it, that branch on my head had tiny little bugs in it I wasn’t aware of. So as I’m sitting there trying to take a photo, I’m wondering why I’m itching so much. It took a few minutes to finally get them all out. I guess all artists suffer for their craft.”

That Sharpie-markered chest tattoo, though. Hard to call it suffering when the result is this ridiculously hilarious.

And lucky for us, his creativity doesn’t end there. Martin has also done his own (terrible) eyeliner, worn crop tops, used that Sharpie again to create an amazingly terrible stomach tattoo and made duck lips. All in the name of teasing his daughter. And art, obviously.

While it might be a little annoying to have your dad troll you on social media, this father-daughter pair appear to be having a blast with it. Please take more selfies, Cassie. Not only are you lovely, we want to see more of your dad’s awful Sharpie tats, stat.
