Morgan Music (she/her) is the Associate Editor for News & Social at Scary Mommy. She contributes articles to the news and trending sections of the site and assists with social media across BDG’s Parenting Portfolio. Devoted to social media’s potential to build connection and community, she creates and curates content aiming for the funny bone and the heart bone.
Morgan has been creating parenting and humor content for over 13 years. Her writing has been featured by HuffPost, Funny or Die, Cosmo, Reader’s Digest, The Washington Post, TinyBeans, Buzzfeed and more. She freelanced as a writer, contributor, and social media manager before joining BDG’s The Dad at the brand’s inception, working alongside a small but mighty team as they grew from 0 to 10M followers. In her most recent role with BDG, Morgan headed The Dad and Scary Mommy Gift Shops, where she led creative on the development and marketing of products ranging from books like “The Dad Instruction Manual,” to “Dissolve the Patriarchy” bath bombs.
Before she was a full-time Internet Person, Morgan worked at Nordstrom for nearly a decade in women’s designer apparel. During her Nordstrom years she achieved companywide recognition as a top-selling manager, relocated 3,000 miles to open a new location, developed a passion for delivering exemplary customer experiences, and underutilized the psychology degree she always meant to do more with.
Born and raised in Portland, OR, Morgan now resides in “the Napa Valley of Southeastern Washington,” aka Walla Walla, WA. She is mother to 3 children spaced 3 years apart, ensuring there is no single activity that pleases everyone. Her family shares a home with 1 dog, 4 cats, and 4 pet rats, leaving Morgan baffled as to how she ended up with so many roommates who contribute so little financially. She is an E-RYT 200hr certified yoga instructor, inconsistent yoga practitioner, and frequent taker-of-deep-breaths.
In her mythological free time, she enjoys audiobooks, The Dollop podcast, plants, weird little thrift store tchotchkes, great design (fashion, interior, art), and terrible puns. She’s on Instagram, Twitter, Threads, BlueSky, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Spotify, Medium, and probably some other platforms where she can’t remember her password.
