Game Of Thrones Stars Announce Engagement In Old Fashioned, Adorable Way
Our favorite Game of Thrones couple is making it official, and their announcement is too cute
In our social media-saturated world, it’s common to see engagements announced by way of a perfectly-lit Instagram photo featuring a blinding rock and “she said yes!” caption. But adorable couple (in both real life and the small screen) Rose Leslie and Kit Harington went a decidedly more old-fashioned route in telling the world their big news.
Fans last saw Harington and Leslie playing Jon Snow and Ygritte, lovers doomed by an arrow (spoiler alert) at the end of Season four of HBO’s mega hit Game of Thrones.
OH MY HEART.
Speculation that the pair were also a real-life couple began in 2012 when they were first photographed together, with their first public appearance at last year’s Olivier Awards, according to the BBC.
Now? It’s official. By way of a sweet announcement in an actual newspaper made of actual paper.
The Times of London ran the announcement which reads, “Mr K.C. Harington and Miss R.E. Leslie. The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.”
Is this even real? Could two people really be this precious in these cynical times we live in? It’s easy to forget that things used to be a bit more quaint and restrained when it came to engagements and weddings. Believe it or not, there was a time when couples didn’t make a mad dash for three different social media apps to share their big news moments after the ring made skin contact, which makes Harington and Leslie’s sweet throwback our new favorite thing.
You know nothing, Jon Snow. Except for adorable engagement announcements. You know that shit very well, apparently.
Now we can all start fantasizing about a honeymoon spent in a gorgeous ice cave far beyond the wall because isn’t it just the best ever when a favorite couple from a beloved television show turn out to be in love for real?
If you aren’t imagining them tying the knot in full North of the Wall regalia complete with Jon’s signature fur cape then you’re not me. They could really do it up with a themed wedding here and no one would even roll their eyes.
We’re sure the actual event will probably happen quietly and without much public fanfare, as that seems to be the couple’s style, but if they go the GoT route, we pray to the Seven they throw a few pics on Instagram so we can drool.
In the meantime, we’ll be over here. Obsessed.
