Drew Barrymore And Ex Tom Green Reunite After 15 Years On Her Talk Show
The pair hadn’t seen or talked to each other in 15 years
Actress Drew Barrymore recently started a new adventure — hosting her own talk show, aptly called The Drew Barrymore Show. She’s hosted some pretty terrific guests so far (hello Charlie’s Angels reunion) but it was her show on Friday, September 26, 2020, that got a lot of people’s attention.
Barrymore welcomed comedian Tom Green on her program Friday. Yes, the Tom Green she was briefly married to in 2001 and hasn’t spoken to since. Green was a guest on her show to plug his new podcast, The Tom Green Interview, but it was their sweet exchanges and a trip down memory lane that made viewers smile.
The former celebrity couple, who Barrymore asked to be a part of Charlie’s Angels because she “admired his work,” eloped a year after meeting. Though the marriage ended five months later, it seems they shared a lot of fun times together — and some pretty life-changing ones as well.
Barrymore noted that the former couple have not seen each other in 15 years, saying “we haven’t seen or spoken to each other in far too long.” Though you wouldn’t know it, as they easily trekked down memory lane together.
Green talked a bit about Barrymore’s three dogs she had when they met and how much they both loved them. One dog, in particular, was credited with saving their lives when their house caught fire in the middle of the night in 2001. Barrymore explained how they were standing in shock watching everything they owned burning down and Green leaned into her ear and started singing the Entertainment Tonight theme song.
“In that moment that everything was so dark and scary and confusing, you lightened it up for me. You made me laugh!” she said. “And I will never forget that. In the middle of what was such a terrifying moment, there’s this one little light in it, and it’s you making me giggle so hard. In the middle of like this darkness came this light, and it was you. And, you know, we just had so many crazy adventures.”
They exchanged a few more memories including when the animal lovers bought live lobsters and released them back into the sea, and at one point, the comedian pulls out a coffee mug with a picture of Barrymore in a brace after she sprained her neck doing yoga. “I found this mug in my garage a couple of years ago and I just kinda kept it ’cause I figured someday I might be on your TV show,” he joked, “and it’d be fun to have a sip out of the mug.”
All jokes aside, the two seemed genuinely happy to be in each other’s presence again. Barrymore teared up before their goodbyes, saying in part, “I want to mention that The Tom Green Interview…on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts is out. It will be available. I suggest you go through a library of Tom Green when you need it most. Or you just wanna…feel good. All right?”
It’s clear these two still have a wonderful connection.
