In a very personal post, Chrissy Teigen says she’ll never be pregnant again

After suffering a heartbreaking pregnancy loss this fall, Chrissy Teigen has been extremely candid about her family’s journey through their grief. In a new Instagram post, Teigen is sharing a photo of her body after losing her son, Jack, at 20 weeks.

“This is me and my body, just yesterday,” Teigen wrote on Instagram Wednesday, along with a photo of her wearing a dress that silhouettes her body. Her postpartum belly is visible in the photo, and she talks about how it makes her feel in the post.

“I have no idea why I still have this bump, honestly,” she writes. “It’s frustrating. But I’m proud of where this entire journey took my body and mind in other ways.”

It would be undeniably difficult to have a visible reminder of such a devastating loss, especially over two months afterward. Postpartum bodies are an emotional struggle for anyone who’s been pregnant, but to have to come to terms with your postpartum body after pregnancy loss adds so many layers to the existing trauma of it all.

While pregnant with Jack, Teigen suffered a partial placenta abruption that didn’t heal, and it caused intense bleeding that never stopped. When it became clear Jack wasn’t going to make it to full-term, Teigen shared her journey of delivering him alongside husband John Legend and saying goodbye in a series of heart-wrenching black-and-white photos showcasing their grief.

Teigen, who is mom to Luna, 4, and Miles, 2, also talked about pregnancy in general and confirmed that she won’t be getting pregnant again. “I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again. But I am lucky to have two amazing little ones who are transforming into big little people more and more every single day. Anyhoo. Love u guys. Xx.”

It’s incredibly generous of Chrissy Teigen to be so upfront with her pain, and she often talks about going to therapy and shares when she’s having days both good and bad. So many parents out there can relate to her journey of loss, and find comfort in the shared experience of grief.

Sending so much love to the Teigen-Legend family and to everyone out there navigating their way through loss this year.
