Cardi B Got Very Real About Childbirth: 'My Baby Broke My Vagina'
Cardi B tells Jimmy Kimmel’s audience the brutal truth about childbirth
Amid the dreamy posts on motherhood that we see on social media, there’s not always a whole lot of honesty. When moms share photos of themselves all glowy and blissful after giving birth, they don’t usually include a caption about how they suffered a third degree tear and have stitches in their vagina — which is why new mom Cardi B keeping it super real about the realities of childbirth is what we all need to hear.
Last night, the rapper (and pregnant twerker, bless) appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live where she was 400 percent honest about her body after baby — in that, part of it “broke.” A pretty important part of it, actually.
As Kimmel asked her whether childbirth was as hard as she expected, Cardi’s words were simple, but brutal: “It was totally harder. She broke my vagina.”
OH girl. We feel you, truly.
And as far as why birth ended up being tougher than what she’d imagined? Cardi feels like no one told her what to expect. “Why nobody told you about these things?” she quipped. “Nobody told me they were gonna stitch my vagina.”
She explains that in convos with other moms, she was told birth would “hurt,” but nothing about that all-important body part being battered to hell and back.
That said, the vaginal stitches didn’t stop her from loving her new life. When asked if she’s enjoying being mom to three-month-old daughter Kulture, Cardi replied, “Yes, I am enjoying it. I should’ve had you when I was a teenager,” she jokingly says of her baby girl. “This is what I was missing my whole life? I love you!”
OK, that’s freaking precious.
Cardi not only shares the reality of motherhood on TV appearances — her Instagram has also provided us with plenty of honest dispatches from her life as a new mom.

And when she refused to appear on camera because of those new parent under-eye circles — which, well, those kind of never go away, TBH.
While she tells Kimmel that she very deliberately keeps her daughter out of the public eye, we still get to see adorable snippets of her now and then.
Although Cardi shares that Kulture is “feisty” and “very demanding,” that isn’t stopping her from wanting three or four more kids. “I could do this over and over again,” she says.
Hopefully next time, she has a slightly better idea of what’s coming.
