Popular Disney Channel Star Cameron Boyce Has Died At Age 20

He died due to an ‘ongoing medical condition,’ according to a statement from his family

Disney Channel star and rising Hollywood actor Cameron Boyce has died at the young age of 20. He’s best known for his roles in Disney’s Descendants and Jessie, but also appeared in major motion pictures like Adam Sandler’s Grownups.

His family issued a statement about their son’s passing, according to E! News, and it’s just as heartbreaking as you’d expect: “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” the statement reads. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”

Boyce was also known for his roles in Grownups 2, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up and Ultimate Spider-Man. He’d already completed his work on the Disney Channel movie Descendants 3, which is currently set for release next month. Even more recently, Boyce was set to appear in the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher as well as the upcoming TV series Paradise City.

Adam Sandler shared a heartfelt message after learning about Boyce’s passing.

“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him,” the Boyce family statement continues. “We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

According to E!, in addition to his acting, Boyce was also known for for his charity work. He brought awareness to the Global Water Crisis by raising more than $30,000 for the Thirst Project.

We offer our deepest condolences to his family, castmates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”
