Betsy Johnson's Trailer Home Is $2M Pink Fever Dream
Betsy Johnson — the iconic fashion designer — is selling her famously pink Malibu mobile home
Do you ever feel like you just want to just Marie Kondo the shit out of your house, sell most of your possessions, and live more simply? Fashion designer Betsey Johnson did just that in 2016, selling her properties and opting for a mobile home instead. Now, that home is back on the market and looks a whole lot different than when she bought it.
Don’t let the words “mobile home” confuse you, this all-pink number is located in Malibu’s exclusive Paradise Cove Mobile Home Park and comes with neighbors like Matthew McConaughey, Minnie Driver, and Pamela Anderson for good measure. The neighborhood also has 24-hour security and access to a community tennis court, clubhouse, and Malibu beach. The $2 million dollar price tag (and HOA fees of $2700 a month) will certainly set you back for this two-bed, two-bath mobile home, but once you see the photos, you’ll see why it’s worth it (for someone with $2M, that is).
Johnson bought the 1,400-square-foot home for just shy of $2 million back in 2016. She told the Wall Street Journal that she was “tired of taking care of homes” and that she’d “changed my life completely. “I’m really happy to have one little dollhouse, and that’s it, she said.” Of course, the trailer is her second home; she makes her full-time residence in L.A. but why get bogged down in details.
According to the listing, this “bohemian dream was custom-styled inside and out and features lush, tropical landscaping that creates a private backyard oasis (with outdoor soaking tub and multiple entertaining areas).” The property also offers “bright and airy updated bathrooms, a secret garden-style pergola-covered outdoor living room, a double-size master bedroom dubbed The Yellow Room, and unique retro touches throughout.”
Johnson’s personal style is evident in every room and designed entirely by her, and it’s clear from the photos that she took time selecting every single thing that makes her happy and put it into one small but amazing space. Of course, she’s always been known for her over the top designs but you can’t look at the photos and not smile. She’s also known for doing a cartwheel ending in a split at the end of her fashion shows, which you may also want to do if you lived here.
According to Mansion Global, Johnson spent around $550,000 renovating the mobile home, saying the park where she and 275 others live helps provide a secluded second-home community for its famous residents. It’s vaulted ceilings, large eat-in kitchen, and marble bathrooms give it a larger-than-life feel. So, if you’ve got a spare $2 million laying around and a flair for the unexpected, this just may be the home for you.
