Amy Schumer Hilariously Celebrates Getting Her First Post-Baby Period
Ah yes, the first period after baby — Amy Schumer captures it perfectly
Amy Schumer, also known as our favorite and most realistic new mom in Celebrityland, has taken to her Instagram account to share yet another part of new parenthood that doesn’t get talked about enough: the first period you get after giving birth.
Schumer, who gave birth to her son Gene back in May, has apparently been gifted the recurrence of her menstrual cycle. It’s the one thing we get a reprieve from whilst pregnant (though, of course, we get slammed with a million other body miseries) and you never know when it’s coming back once you deliver. And after you heal from that, with all the stuff that just comes out of you for weeks, the last thing you want to deal with again is your period.
Schumer proves you’ve just gotta have a sense of humor about everything from C-section scars to periods.
Not sure what’s more LOL-worthy, the faces and poses she’s doing here or the use of every single red emoji in the emoji arsenal (plus a few extras for good measure). That third photo especially! It’s funny, it’s accurate, and it doesn’t even need a detailed description in the caption to be relatable.
We get it. Oh, how we get it.
I got to live through a blissful six months before my period returned (and, because I have PCOS, when it finally came it came with a vengeance). I “celebrated” by baking myself a Duncan Hines cake and eating the entire thing myself. Because I earned that shit.
This obviously isn’t the first time we’ve fallen in love with Amy Schumer and her Extremely Relatable Mom Content. She a stellar comedian, so naturally everything she posts is likely going to be funny as hell. Watching her navigate new parenthood is like a breath of fresh air for us plebs.
HOSPITAL UNDERWEAR FOR LIFE. Anyone who doesn’t worship these mesh panties loudly and proudly is a shameful liar because they are heaven post-delivery.
And, let’s be honest, we all love a good mesh underwear photo.
As well as a good pumping photo. Because no matter who you are, how much money you have, or where you live — pumping sucks. Literally. And there’s no glamorous way to do it. You just suck it up and do it. (Pun obviously intended).
But it’s all worth it for moments just like these:
Basically, we love Amy Schumer and we can’t wait to see what she shares next.
