Virgin River Season 4 is officially available to binge, bringing even more romantic drama to enjoy. And with both Mel and Charmaine pregnant, babies are top of mind. So, why not lean into that? If you’re an expectant fan, mull over these names inspired by Virgin River.

Jack

Our leading guy, Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson), bears a classic one-syllable name that never goes out of style. Of English origin, it means “God is gracious.”

Netflix

Monroe

Alexandra Breckenridge plays Jack’s love, Mel Monroe. And although her first name is pretty, her last name is full of charisma! Gender-neutral, it means “mouth of the Roe River.”

Netflix

Vernon

Ol’ Doc Mullins (played by Tim Matheson) sure has grown into a likable guy over the seasons. Also likable? His first name, Vernon, which fittingly means “place of alders.”

Netflix

McCrea

The first name of Annette O’Toole’s charmingly quirky character, Hope, might seem like the obvious choice, but her last name, McCrea, is even cooler. It means “son of prosperity” but could be used for any gender.

Netflix

Brady

Looking for a name with some swagger? Say hello to Virgin River’s resident bad boy Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth). His last name, which means “one with broad eyes,” makes an interesting gender-neutral pick.

Netflix

Brie

Jack’s sister Brie is finally starting to come into her own on the show (her character gets really gutsy this season), making her worthy of a moniker nod. Her French first name means “strength or exalted one.”

Netflix

Colin

OK, so this isn’t the name of a character — but it is the name of the actor, Colin Lawrence, who plays total fan favorite “Preacher.” Plus, Colin means “pup,” and how cute is that?

Netflix

Julia

Lucia Walters, who plays fierce newcomer Julia, has a fun Virgin River connection — she’s married in real life to Colin Lawrence! Her character’s Latin name means “youthful.”

Netflix

River

This gender-neutral name comes from none other than the charming Pacific Northwest town where the show is set. It’s a beautiful homage to this natural element that seems to soothe and heal so many characters.

Netflix

Muriel

A friend of Doc and Hope’s, Muriel got a bit of a bad rap early on for a perceived flirtation with the former. But she’s actually a really sweet character, and her name — which has loads of vintage charm — means “of the bright sea.”

Netflix

Indiana

You may be thinking, Hmm, I don’t remember this character.... And that’s fair since it doesn’t belong to a Virgin River resident. No spoilers, but it gets a brief (but memorable) mention in Season 4.

Netflix

Charmaine

Love her or hate her (probably the latter for most fans), you’ve gotta admit — Charmaine, played by Lauren Hammersley, has a chic name. It means “a singer.”

Netflix

Bowen

While the series is “set” in Northern California, parts are filmed off of Bowen Island, which is in Howe Sound off the coast of Vancouver. As a name, Bowen means “son of Owen.”

Netflix

Denny

Denny made his debut in the series during Season 3. He was inquiring about Doc Mullins because — spoiler alert, (but not really) Denny is his grandson. This was especially surprising because Doc didn't even know he had children.

NETFLIX

Paige

Paige Lassiter provides a suspenseful story after moving to Virgin River to escape her abusive husband. But, when she's discovered, she's forced to take off again, leaving her new friend Preacher behind. Although she is absent from Season 3, she makes a satisfying comeback in Season 4.
