The Geekery
-
A place to post and converse about all things "Geek".
I know there's some of you out there....
Lets get our fangirl on together. -
-
@mommydelirious that explains it. not a dr who fan. just about any other sci fi, though...
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
@mommydelirious Believe it or not my first episode of Dr. Who was the transitional episode between Christopher Eccleston's and David Tennet's doctors!
I fell in love David Tennet's Dr. but Matt Smith's is becoming my favorite.
Anyone else watch Torchwood? I loved me some Ianto!I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out! -
I'm netflixing the Tudors right now. @MarySunshine you're a history buff... have you seen that series?
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
@shate98 No! I never got into it, but I hear a lot of good things about it.I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out!
-
@MarySunshine only on ep 3, but so far so good. Pretty racy, but really starting to get into it.
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
@marysunshine I plan on watching it! Im just finishing up with DW...only have the Christmas episode to go really.
@shate98 I watched some of it a while back, but can't remember if it was super awesome or I just thought Jonathan Reese Myers was hot.
-
Yeah it is reeeeeally racy, but Henry VIII was kinda a pig, so it's to be expected. LOLI'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out!
-
oooh, so I have one for all the geeks out there. Currently available on netflix streaming. DH picked the movie we watched last week. It's called Tomorrow When the War Began. Terrible title. Based on a series of books.
It's an australian, post-apocalyptic teen movie.
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
@gryphon1971 yay! Im not alone. And I found that the transition btwn him and David tennant was the best because some of their characteristics were similer I found. Not that I don't like Matt Smiths doctor but he doesn't seem a lot alike 9/10
-
I liked # 9. # 10 is a bit warmer in personality but 9 was nice too. I liked his coat ! He was the first Dr I saw. Every time I see that that actor ( I can never spell his last name right ) Christopher E. I will at least watch some of it. He is a good actor. He has done some great Shakespeare.

" Wibbly wobbly timey wimey ......." The Doctor
" I'm a leafe on the wind..watch how I soar ." Wash :((
" Oh the wall had it comming.' Sherlock Holmes

@mommydelirious I like them all for the similarities and their differences. 10/11's transition was the saddest. I Can't wait for April!! Clara's story line is gonna be insane!"Fantastic!" 9th Doctor
-

"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,

@mommydelirious - I love 9. And 10. And I like 11. But all for different reasons.
Tom Baker was my first Doctor.
-
@shate98 I will check out Tomorrow When the War Began. Thanks!

-
@gryphon1971 - I am definitely looking forward to the new Star Trek movie.

-
I'm going to derail this thread by refusing to discus Dr. Who. Anyway, @mommydelirious, we have no idea if medieval lesbians were into S&M and frankly that's none of your business. :P
But for real, they weren't really considered "lesbians" or "homosexual" because it was believed you needed a penis to have real sex, so no one paid them much attention until Freud and his stupid penis envy idea. -
@demanda I, as the creator of this thread, give you permission to derail any conversation to talk about medieval lesbians and any type of sex at any time.
Freud prob just couldn't get any so he started that whole "she must me a lesbian" thing to make himself feel better. I mean, for me, personally...he's so not on my "Hit List"
-
@mommydelirious I LOVE SHERLOCK !!!
Cumberbatch =P~ I am so sad that the new ones won't be here till 2014 !!!!!" Wibbly wobbly timey wimey ......." The Doctor
" I'm a leafe on the wind..watch how I soar ." Wash :((
" Oh the wall had it comming.' Sherlock Holmes
yea I am geek !! -
@momofdbb & @mommydelirious - Sherlock is brilliant! Also, just saying Benedict Cumberbatch makes me smile.
That image series ending in: so tumblr exploded? Perfect! DH and I were musing about that and in addition Benefict is the voice of Smaug.

I'm catching up on Nerdist podcasts (NSFW) and the Dr. Dimento interview is so much fun. His story is fascinating and the guys are just nerding out and fawning all over him. It's wonderful to hear them get all fanboy drooly.
It's not the funniest episode yet. I think the John Lithgow episode is the funniest I've heard so far, but Tom Hanks was pretty funny.
-
Oh, I also want to mention that James Hance has been really productive lately (or maybe just posting more on his FB feed). He's been putting up originals on eBay, but the price quickly rockets above what I can afford. However, there are still prints available. There a few flavors of geek to be found, including Muppets, Labyrinth, Firefly, Doctor Who, Superman... http://www.jameshance.com/prints.html

-
@gingersnap Lunch Atop The Half Constructed Death Star' caught my attention, and DH is the Firefly fanatic but Im not usre he'd like the muppet mashup thing. He did get me to go looking online for a coat for him a while back and it was around 200+ for a remake.

Here's how I know my husband is not geek enough, even though he swears he's a card-carrying geek. A mutual friend was over and we were discussing the Shards of Nassis (sp?) and talking about the genealogy of Aragorn. DH had NO CLUE what we were talking about. Friend's wife also peaced out of that convo. That was all prompted by discussing the new Hobbit movie that we haven't seen yet.
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
@Shate98 - Well, if he's not a geek, at least he loves one. :)) What kind of geeky stuff is he into? My husband and I are not geeky in the same ways, but we're really happy to be with someone else that understands and loves our geekiness.PS: shards of Narsil

-
@Gingersnap thanks! I remember details, but I'm not good with names...
DH is a computer nerd. I builds computers from scratch for fun. He loves sci fi, esp zombies. But when it comes to true geek stuff, like Firefly or LOTR, he likes it but not enough to recall any details. BUT... his secret passion is for shiny vampires...
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole." -
OMG Shiny vampires? Like sparkly? I support nerds of most any stripe. I'm glad he has passions. I'm not a fan of sparkly vampires. Unless there's glitter involved.

-
@Gingersnap lol, right? I support his inner teenage girl, but I myself don't like sparkly vampires. Also, not a huge fan of glitter. that shit gets everywhere! Now, Anne Rice vampires... that's a different story :D
"As you wander through your life, whatever be your goal,
keep your eye upon the doughnut, not upon the hole."
